Please tell us about the projects you worked on before making ‘Waterbus’. How did you start, and how did you learn to make films?
My name is Silvia Busacca I am a debut director. My cinematographic journey began in 2017 with the Academy of Cinema in Rome where I studied acting, in various Masterclasses with American and Italian producers and actors until I landed at the Centro Internazionale Alti Studi Espressività Generativa in Rome Italy. At the Ciseg in Rome Eg Actors Lab I started with cinema workshops until I was the protagonist of an experimental short film "IN LIMINE * by the film director and producer Gianluca Testa . After a brief presentation of IN LIMINE in Italian festivals and in a network in Hollywood, I decided that I should tell stories for the public .. One day in the distant 2022 I was in the Marche Region precisely in a small seaside resort Civitanova Marche) in Italy and looking at the sea my thoughts were recreated on the camera of my smartphone recreating what was then my short film RUMORS public to the Italian press and on the streaming platform SHORT FILM MATTERS ..
RUMORS small Short film that was edited with the Film Ora app ... it did not have a production.. as it was made with a simple smartphone.. In the meantime in August September 2022 as every year I participated in the Venice Film Festival. .. Returning from the Venice Biennale I was struck by the scenery of the Venetian lagoon and its vaporetti.. I only had a camera behind me and it was not enough for clear shots but I decided to try to make those shots of the Venetian vaporetti and their hard work anyway.. Thanks then to the continuous collaboration with the International Center for Higher Studies on Generative Expressivity in Rome I managed to realize the cinematic project I wanted on Venice. That's when WATERBUS was born. Documentary short film dedicated to the activity of the Venetian vaporetti in Venice.

Tell us about ‘Waterbus’. How do you describe it?
My first works were RUMORS AND WATERBUS being a debutant in directing I had to find stories that could find a response in the public and the spectator. Being an active part of the Venice Film Festival it was important for me to enhance a fundamental work of the vaporetti that every day make Venice unique in its great splendor..
Please tell us about your favorite filmmakers.
My favorite director is the great Martin Scorsese .. I'm a big fan of him .. I followed one of his greatest masterpieces at the Rome Film Fest in 2019 with IRISHMAN in Roma Italy .I follow in his footsteps ... Of course I would love to direct a film with him ...I admit it ...
If you were given a good budget, what would be your ideal project?
If I were given a big budget I would make a film that tells the story of my country, Italy, where aspiring actors and actresses tell their lives and their experiences. Telling their "Italy" * today the future belongs to the young.
Describe how you would ensure that production is on schedule. What steps would you take?
A successful film production requires planning and management of resources and clear communication between all members of the crew. The figure of the assistant director and the use of tools such as the editing bulletin are essential to ensure that the film is produced on schedule.
What was the hardest part of making ‘Waterbus’.
The most difficult part in the making of WATERBUS was the shots, I only had a video camera and I didn't have suitable backgrounds and lights but thanks to the International Center for High Studies in Generative Expressivity in Rome Italy I was able to realize the cinematographic project.
If possible, tell us about your next work. What plans do you have for your future work?
As future projects . I am following the creation of a screenplay for a film project dedicated to the United Nations and a film that will be presented as my first film at the beginning of my journey and that will be shot in Sicily, my motherland where I lived many years of my life ... And where I still live ... Thanks to everyone
