Project Type: Experimental Film
Project Title: Presidents Park
Brief Synopsis: This film created in partnership with the spoken word poet, Freequency. Filmed in Williamsburg VA, at the now bankrupt park, Presidents’ Park. The sculptures were created by the artist, David Adickes.
This film grapples with a searing, essential question: Do we truly need a president? The very architecture of governance in the United States appears so warped, so saturated with systemic rot, that redemption feels like a distant myth. What emerges instead is a call—not for reform—but for ritual dismantling.
Liz Miller leads us through a ceremonial reckoning: a conflagration of the presidency itself, an offering of flame meant to purge the patriarchal sickness embedded in its core. Through this act of radical immolation, the symbols of power are reduced to ember and ash. Yet this is no nihilistic burn. The char left behind becomes fertile ground. In the ruin, there is renewal. Like a phoenix, a different future waits to rise—not from tradition, but from transformation.
