Please tell us about the projects you worked on before making ‘Blink Time. How did you start, and how did you learn to make films?
Initially I was an author, and I wrote a book in 2010 called ‘God Tech: Mark of the Beast’ which got to number 2 in the Amazon Kindle charts. I got approached by Warner Bros to make it into a feature film, but I was unhappy with their ethics at the time. I then got approached by Lionsgate who said, if I made the film myself, I would distribute it. So, I took the offer and started learning about films. I was advised the best way to do this would be to take part in 24- and 48-hour film projects. Since then I have made 16 short films including Blink Time. I am now making my first romantic comedy sci-fi feature film, 8V40.
Tell us about ‘Blink Time’. How do you describe it?
Blink Time follows Sam who is given a strange device that forces her to jump through different time periods whilst she is trying to work out what is happening to her.
Please tell us about your favorite filmmakers.
My two favourite film makers are Robert Rodriguez because he started with nothing and made a name for himself and Steven Spielberg for his incredible vision and creativity. I also love watching anything made by the Korean production house, Studio Dragon. I would love to work with them on a project.
If you were given a good budget, what would be your ideal project?
My dad wrote a book called Pilgrim, which is a space adventure based on The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan and I have written it as screenplay. If I had the money, I would like to make that.
Describe how you would ensure that production is on schedule. What steps would you take?
I use an online software called Studio Binder and it’s very good at managing the script, schedules and call sheets. I also have a good production team and an Executive Assistant who I work with.
What was the hardest part of making ‘Blink Time’.
Time restraints on daylight ours because it was created for a 48-hour film competition. I had to film everything in one day.
If possible, tell us about your next work. What plans do you have for your future work?
As I earlier said, I am currently filming my first feature film called 8v40. "8v40" is a thrilling romantic sci-fi movie that follows the journey of Jason, a Londoner, who finds an extraordinary way to be with the woman he loves, Rachel, living in Philippines. Jason is determined to meet Rachel but lacks the financial means to travel. When he stumbles upon an opportunity to earn £2000 by participating in a scientific experiment involving teleportation, he seizes the chance to make his dream a reality.
