Project Title: The Flow of Haiku

Brief Synopsis:After spending many years together in Wuhan, a man and a woman are forced apart by diverging futures. Li Miao is set to emigrate to the United States tomorrow, while Fu Heng will remain in Wuhan and leave for Japan six months later. On the eve of their separation, Fu Heng avoids facing the day by using an ill-fitting sofa as an excuse to sell the one in their home. The emotions they cannot put into words flow quietly beneath the surface, like the Yangtze River itself, concealed within haiku exercises in a Japanese language classroom.
