Project Title: Slava Ukraini
Brief Synopsis: Slava Ukraini is a virtual experience that uses the affordances of virtual reality’s dream-like scale and space to create an experience through which the interactant faces the sounds, sights and challenges of war. It is not merely an empathy piece, but rather a memorial, a lieu de mémoire, which holds the terrors, exhaustion, determination, resilience, and beauty of the Ukrainian people as they fiercely defend their country, culture and language from annihilation. The viewer is encouraged to experience and think about the brutality of war and cultural assault in an intimate and stark manner, to hear, see, and feel, without commentary. To bear witness. To remember.
