Director Biography - Giuseppe Giacri

Son of Carlos Giacri (a tugboat telegraph operator of the port of Montevideo), and Ladi Galarraga (housewife). Her younger sister is an important link in the filmmaking decision. From a very young age, he shows great interest in photography, at the age of 20 he sees "A clockwork orange" by Stanley Kubrick, film that leads him to follow his vocation.

BEGINNINGS

In 2000, Giuseppe travels to the United States to visit his sister who is studying journalism at Brenau University, Gainesville, Georgia. There, he participates in a short film as the main actor and this motivates him to start studying cinema. He finds out his true passion in 2003 when entering the Film School of Uruguay E.C.U in Montevideo city. That same year, he edits the short film "La Isla de la Tentación". In 2004, he directs, edits and produces several short films.

From 2007 to 2008, he works as a freelance in post-production, camera and lighting for Atenea Audiovisual Production. In November 2008, he decides to expand his filmmaking abilities and manages to create his own production company called Travelling-Pro. In 2009, he moves to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and works as a freelance, in advertising agencies. He begins frequenting Rede Globo Productions (an entertainment company) contributing as Camera Assistant, Cameraman and Photography Assistant in a few productions.

At the beginning of 2010, he produces the documentary "Coupé-Décalé" in the favela in Cidade Alta (typical music style, popular dance from Ivory Coast and the Ivorian community of Paris, France). In January 2011, he returns to Montevideo where the opportunity to produce a journalistic and entertainment show called "Por qué te vas" arises, presenting the life of Uruguayan emigrants around the world as subject. The pilot show was completed on May 25, 2012.

In 2013, a new challenge arises, the making of the short film "Por Ella", an action fiction of love and zombies. The pre-production, production, filming and post, take three years. On October 8, 2016, the short film is released for the technical team, actors and collaborators at the Museum of Visual Arts in Montevideo.

"Por Ella", has an international impact in different media and will soon participate in important festivals around the world.

Stanley Kubrick´s phrase "If it can be written or thought, it can be filmed" remains everyday in Giuseppe´s mind together with a more recent one that points a new path "I have met extraordinary people, whom I have seen fight, grow and shine, that fills my soul with joy. Joy and hope, because I see in them the lineage of the great ones " G.G.

Nothing can stand between the dreamer and his dreams.
