Brief Synopsis: The untold story of Ferdinando Sarmi, who established his career in New York City and where he lived for two decades. His vision and craftsmanship elevated American ready-to-wear to the level of couture. He helped shape New York and American fashion, dressing celebrities Mariyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Wallace Simpson, Patricia Nixon and New York socialites such as Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney. For the first time, Ferdinado Sarmi: Untold Stories of New York Fashion brings to the public eye the life and legacy of an Italian-born designer whose work moved between couture, New York society, cinema and costume. He was a true Ambassador of Italian style in the USA. However, he has been largely overlooked by the fashion industry and scholarship. This film traces Sarmi's remarkable path from Italy to America and brings his work and memory back to life.
