Brief Synopsis: Toxica is a story of resilience that talks about romantic love. Ivy, the plant
woman, is a character that 's inspired in a Greek myth about Persephone. The myth justifies the seasons of ancient Greece, Persefone was the child of Demeter the goddess of agriculture, she was raped and taken to the underworld with Hades. In this film, she goes back to the world, flowers and plants are born because Demeter it's happy and when she goes back down the environment turns hostile, cold without nature. Ivy is an interpretation of this myth because she is a woman that doesn't know how to love. So when she goes back to earth she can have a normal and healthy relationship because she doesn't love herself. She is always trying to change the other people and their behaviours, so that is why she can stop being evil or toxic. This is a comparison with contemporary love. When you are in a toxic relationship, you don't know how to get out because it's poisonous and dangerous to continue in it. Talks about how we must know about our love self and empower it because we can love healthily.
